Surjeet rules out ties with TDP till Naidu recants

Communist Party of India-Marxist general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet today ruled out ''opening of any channel'' with the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh till the TDP severed all its connections with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre.

Addressing the media, Surjeet charged TDP president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu with being ambiguous even on the basic issue of the use of Article 356 recently in Bihar.

Asserting that the BJP-led coalition government at the Centre could not come to power without the support of the TDP, the veteran CPI-M leader contended that Naidu had ''gone far from his commitment --- on secularism and federalism''.

''Earlier, he used to give a strong statement (against incursion in the federal concept) but his statement now (recently on the dismissal of the Rabri government in Bihar) was ambiguous''. ''One does not understand what he (Naidu) means,'' he said tauntingly.
