Unseasonal rain in Maharashtra, Gujarat

Some parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat experienced unseasonal rains last night owing to a cyclonic circulation in the upper layer of the atmosphere over north Maharashtra and Saurashtra.

But the skies were mostly clear in the last 24 hours and night temperatures in the region remained unchanged.

Night temperatures were markedly above normal in Kashmir, Rajasthan, most parts of Gujarat state and Saurashtra, and some parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh.

They were appreciably above normal in most parts of Maharashtra and Goa and in some parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Telangana.

They were above normal in parts of south Tamil Nadu, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Kerala and the remaining parts of Gujarat state, and normal in the rest of the country barring Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar, from where data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred in the last 24 hours at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or snow is likely to occur at a few places in the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
