ASSEMBLY POLL '98
|
Sonia says Congress is willing to form next governmentCongress president Sonia Gandhi today said her party would be willing to form a government in the event of fall of the BJP-led coalition government at the Centre. Addressing a public meeting in Davengere in Karnataka, she said, "There is every possibility that the BJP government will fall at any moment, and we will not stand and watch after that." Virtually using the public meeting as a launch pad for her party's campaign for the assembly elections in the state, scheduled to be held by this year-end, she made a scathing attack on the Centre, saying the Vajpayee government was directionless and its policies had no bearing on the economy.
