Minorities panel submits final report on anti-Christian attacks to PM

National Commission for Minorities Chairman Tahir Mahmood has met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and presented him the final and comprehensive report on Gujarat events, besides its findings on recent incidents in Orissa and Karnataka.

Dr Mahmood also presented the annual report of the commission to the prime minister during the 45-minute meeting.

The NCM chairman recently paid a visit to Assam and Meghalaya to take stock of the situation arising out of the influx of Bangladeshis into the region. He said that, in the Christian-dominated tribal state of Meghalaya, non-tribal Hindus and Muslims face certain serious problems, which merit the attention of the commission.
