Slash ration prices for all: TDP

E-Mail this report to a friend

The ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh has firmly stuck to its demand that the Centre should roll back the hike effected for ''all categories'' in the issue price of essential commodities supplied through the public distribution system. The Centre rolled back the issue price yesterday for the people living below the poverty line.

When contacted for his party's reaction on the Centre's decision, TDP chief spokesperson Ummareddy Venkateswarlu said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had been demanding a "complete roll back for all items and all categories".

He said the state government was supplying subsidised rice to 11.3 million families living below the poverty line and to 520 million families above the poverty line.

The TDP's demand would benefit the people of the entire country and not only Andhra Pradesh, he added.
