'Is there hope for India still?'
E-mail from readers the world over
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 10:41:47 -0500 He is really great. Everybody should appreciate what he is doing for his state. At least some politicians should learn a lot from him. He should be the future prime minister of India.
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 10:43:26 EST Very good, prosperous, with a decent future perspective, Clear thought and original. This attitude will unify the whole nation, potentially will kill corruption. Let us hope that other CMs learn throughout the country. Excellent attitude!!!! Achyut Vadoothker
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 10:55:26 -0500 Excellent. At least one politician in India has got a vision for 21st century India. He is the only politician who has the knowledge to revolutionise IT in India. Ramesh Venkat
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 11:05:10 -0500 This is excellent!! I am sure changes will come and the ten things will be implemented in India to make India a superpower in information technology. Amita Agarwal
Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1999 00:12:03 +0800 AWESOME..AND BRILLIANT STUFF.. It is really fortunate that Rediff thinks of highlighting such articles!!!..

Date: Thu, 02 Dec 1999 20:17:23 +0400 I am genuinely shocked! A politician talking sense? May his tribe increase! But a small note of perplexity. How did a straight-talking person like this win an election again? Is there hope for India still? Mohan
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 21:59:37 +0530 I am very impressed by your column on Naidu's view on IT. I will appreciate if you regularly carry such statements from Mr Naidu's state.
Date: Thu, 02 Dec 1999 12:18:59 EST It is a very good list. It is encouraging to see a politician after Mr Rajiv Gandhi who is willing to look beyond the boundaries and understand where the rest of the world is going and think of ways to catch up with it. However, there are two things that are still missing -- obviously, missing from every politician's list! 1. Two party system. 2. Less campaign hangama and more focus on the actual issues like the ones listed in Mr Naidu's list. Arjun
Date: Thu, 02 Dec 1999 10:03:09 -0800 If we can follow, development is a sure shot.
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 11:04:23 -0700 It was a great column and I appreciate your efforts in developing awareness among the people. Deepak Pujar
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 10:16:39 -0800 There is no mention of the crores of people below the poverty line languishing without basic amenities. Why doesn't Naidu talk about them? What has he done for them? I think all this talk is cheap and not worthy of a column in rediff Prasad
Date: Thu, 02 Dec 1999 13:50:17 EST There is no stopping Naidu now from projecting himself as the 'Cyber God' to mankind. Five years in power and using media can do wonders. Our country is a techno savvy country and we produce the maximum number of IT professionals from South Asia. So what is the big deal in a chief minister using a computer or wanting to promote IT? Give us a break. Please stop to think and see what this hype is all about in AP and give us some realistic assessment than indulge in some amateur sycophancy of Naidu. Prerana
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 13:55:33 -0500 I got a chance to go through the 10 points which Mr Naidu has mentioned. I think those points are very much valid keeping in mind where our country is today. I really think as a CM he has an extensive amount of knowledge about the Indian IT infrastructure. If people like him show interest and encourage and support, then as he says we will be one of the infotech superpowers in the world. I very much appreciate his thoughts and support and also wish rediff all success in the future. Thanks
Ravichandran
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 10:58:47 -0800 If all the chief ministers had such views, India would have been in much better shape now. Kudos Naidu!
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 14:09:16 -0500 What he is saying about the availability of a telecommunication infrastructure and PCs is very much valid. We need to open up our telecom sector as soon as possible. But one thing he is missing is good power supply. Power is either not available or it is of poor quality. Without addressing this issue we will not be able to proceed towards becoming an IT superpower. Santosh
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 14:35:16 -0500 Excellent Job... I just hope he can make it happen.
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 19:40:42 -0000 The emphasis has to also be on improving social infrastructure such as health indicators, education and poverty alleviation as well as social empowerment. Without a positive improvement in the quality of life and infrastructure, Andhra cannot do much by just harping on IT.
Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 14:47:30 -0500 Mr Naidu has summed it up correctly. I believe even administrative services have to be continually retooled considering the pace at which reforms are happening all around us. We should shed some of the British legacy .
N Rajendra Kumar
