Delhi citizens protest against Pak-sponsored terrorismUnion Home Minister L K Advani, Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley and eminent citizens of the capital today participated in a public signature campaign urging Pakistan to stop sponsoring cross-border terrorism in the Kashmir Valley. Among others who participated in the campaign, initiated by the Delhi Study Group and coinciding with the World Human Rights Day, were eminent writer Kushwant Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party vice president Jana Krishnamurthy, former Delhi chief minister Madanlal Khurana, MP, and former vice chief of army staff Lt Gen (retd) V K Sood besides children drawn from various schools. The campaign raised the plight of the orphaned children in Jammu and Kashmir due to the ongoing militancy in that state in a memorandum which was later submitted to the United Nations office in Delhi, the DSG president Vijay Jolly said. The memorandum called upon the United Nations to do everything possible to prevent the violence perpetrated by the militants and urged Pakistan to desist from aiding and abetting cross border terrorism. No one has given a thought to the gross human rights violations against the children in J&K as a result of militancy, the memorandum said. It called upon the world community to take up the cause of human rights violations in Kashmir by militants and put effective pressure on those responsible for it. UNI
