CWC will discuss Antony report tomorrow

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Congress Working Committee will meet in New Delhi tomorrow to discuss the A K Antony committee report on introspection into the party's debacle in the last Lok Sabha elections.

However, party spokesperson Anil Shastri declined to confirm whether the meeting would discuss the report.

The Congress president is seized of the contents of the report and if necessary the matter will be discussed at the CWC, he said. The agenda of the CWC meeting is not normally circulated, he said, when asked whether the report would be discussed.

The Congress president herself had indicated earlier that organisational changes will be effected after studying the recommendations of the Antony committee.

Meanwhile, Shastri said the party welcomed the government's stand that the Women's Reservation Bill would be introduced during the current session of Parliament. "We take it on the face value the statement of parliamentary affairs minister in this regard," he said, recalling the party's persistent demand in the Lok Sabha for early introduction of the bill. "We welcome any consensus on the bill, but let them introduce it first," he said.
