Pak troops still on LoC: Jaswant

E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistan has made no move to withdraw troops from the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir where they had been inducted in large numbers during its armed intrusion in the Kargil sector, External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

He added that the military coup in Pakistan had not altered in any way its aggressive approach towards India.

In another reply, Jaswant Singh defended the opening of a non-official channel of communication with Pakistan during the Kargil conflict. He added that the communication with Pakistan through Niaz Naik (former Pak foreign secretary) and R K Mishra (Delhi-based newspaper editor) did not deviate in any way from the official diplomatic channel.
