Musharraf visits Bahrain

E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistan's military leader, General Pervez Musharraf, arrived in Bahrain on a brief visit today, the official Gulf News Agency reported.

Musharraf held talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Sulman al-Khalifa that covered bilateral relations and the situation in Pakistan. GNA quoted Sheikh Khalifa as saying that Bahrain was keen to strengthen ties with Pakistan.

A Bahraini official said Musharraf would spend a few hours in the Arab state and then fly to Iran later in the day. The trip is Musharraf's third abroad since seizing power in a bloodless military coup in October. The general has already visited Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait and Turkey.
