Bangalore teacher has providential escape in Moscow

An Indian teacher from The Art of Living Foundation in Bangalore had a miraculous escape in Moscow recently, where he was kidnapped by four assailants believed to be Pakistanis.

Narrating the incident today, the teacher, Nitin Limaye, who returned to Bangalore last night, said he was on his way to Irkutsk in Siberia a couple of weeks ago to teach a course on the art of living. While he was on an eight-hour stopover at Moscow airport, a man, who spoke in Hindi, invited him for tea saying he lived barely 15 minutes away.

However, the drive took over an hour, and Limaye soon found himself in a house situated in a remote place, facing four armed men. They locked him in a room, snatched his passport and demanded, at gunpoint, that he arrange for a ransom.

When he was left alone in the room for some time, Limaye prayed and meditated for a while, and felt a sudden resurgence of power.

Banging on the door, he confronted them forcefully as they opened it, snatched his passport and started to make for the road. The hitherto hostile men turned mellow, apologised profusely and even arranged a taxi to take him back to the airport.

Reaching Moscow airport barely ten minutes before takeoff, he was amazed by the co-operation of the airport manager, who incredibly arranged for him to board the plane after hearing his story.

Limaye said he was left wondering at the way he had responded to the situation. He attributed his miraculous escape to the power of meditation, and to the grace of his guru, Sri Ravishankar, the founder of The Art of Living Foundation.
