Two ISI-backed terrorists shot dead in western UPTwo hardcore terrorists of the Inter-Services Intelligence-backed Khalistan Commando Force (Panjwar group) were today shot down in an encounter in Rudrapur, western Uttar Pradesh. The swift, pre-dawn operation involved commandos of the National Security Guard and the Delhi police crime branch personnel. The operation was a follow-up to the arrest of three terrorists in New Delhi on Thursday night from whom 50 kg of RDX was recovered, Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) K K Paul said. One of the terrorists, Bakshish Singh alias Baba, had revealed on interrogation the hideout of the terrorists in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh. The team of the NSG and the Delhi police took Bakshish Singh in a special aircraft to identify the hideout. Today at around 0530 IST, they cordoned off the hideout in Rudravihar at Rudrapur, Dr Paul said. Two terrorists -- Kulwant Singh alias Kanta and Yaduvinder Singh alias Nihang, allegedly involved in several bomb explosions in various parts of the country -- opened fire from inside. In the return of fire, they were killed. Dr Paul said two pistols and some rounds of ammunition were recovered from the hideout. Search and other operations were continuing in the area. He said more operations based on the interrogation of the terrorists apprehended in Delhi could not be ruled out. Besides Bakshish Singh, the Delhi police had nabbed Dilbagh Singh and Charanjit Singh. The three had planned to disrupt the Lok Sabha election in New Delhi by bombing several important places. UNI
