E-Mail this report to a friend

The Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM) today claimed the responsibility for killing its rival NSCN (K) general secretary Dally Mungro.

Mungro was gunned down on Wednesday night at Jotsoma near Kohima along with two of his security guards.

One self-styled corporal, who was in an adjacent room, sustained serious injuries in the shoot-out. He has been admitted to a hospital where his condition is stated to be critical, police said.

Mungro (55), prime minister of the Government of Peoples Republic of Nagaland (GPRN) was in a hideout alongwith his wife and one self-styled officer when the shoot-out took place.

As the news spread in the capital town of Kohima, shops downed shutters.

A report from Mungro's home town Mokokchung said a spontaneous bandh was observed there too.
