Final Bofors papers in a few days: Vajpayee

E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said the final documents in the Bofors case are expected from Switzerland in a few days.

"We hope to get these in a few days," he told a news conference in Chandigarh.

He said it was clear that some kickback was involved in the Bofors gun deal.

He said Italian national Ottavio Quattrocchi was allegedly involved in the deal and there was a chargesheet against him.

"The Congress leaders should make public their relation with Italian businessman Quattrocchi," he added.

Later in the day, however, the prime minister's office issued a clarification that Vajpayee had only said that all matters relating to the Bofors case are "under investigation".

No charge-sheet has been filed and the word 'charge-sheet' was used inadvertently, the PMO said.
