Three KLF terrorists arrested in PunjabWith the arrest of three members of the dreaded Khalistan Liberation Force, the Punjab police today claimed to have foiled an attempt by the terrorists to unleash violence in Punjab and elsewhere in the country. A large quantity of arms, including four-and-a-half kg of RDX, three rocket-launchers, two sniper rifles, one Tommy gun, one AK-56 assault rifle with two magazines and 50 bullets, were recovered from them, Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said. The arrested have been identified as Jagtar Singh alias Raju of Deluana village in Mansa district; Ram Singh of Karandi in the Tohana police station area of Fatehabad district in Haryana; and Jasbir Singh alias Jassa of Manki village near Malerkotla town in Sangrur district. Jagtar Singh, a murder convict who spent seven years in jail for killing a resident of his village, was released in February, while his accomplice Jasbir Singh, who had allegedly killed Communist leader Mastan Singh in 1991 at Malerkotla, was given bail in 1994 after spending time in Sangrur and Sabha jails. Ram Singh is Jagtar Singh's cousin. The police said the three had met dreaded terrorist Daya Singh Lahoria in Delhi's Tihar jail to discuss their plan. Lahoria is a prime accused in the attempt on the life of former Youth Congress chief, Maninderjit Singh Bitta. Preliminary interrogation revealed that they were being controlled by former terrorists Sandip Singh alias Jasbir Singh, based in Britain, and Gurnam Singh who operates under the assumed name of Harmesh from the United States, the SSP said. Sandip Singh and Gurnam Singh are close associates of dreaded Khalistani ideologues Daljit Singh Bittu and Gursharan Singh, both lodged in high-security Nabha jail.
