E-Mail this report to a friend

Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party leader Ramakant Khalap, who was elected to the Goa assembly from Mandrem in June, has been nominated by the Congress for the Panaji Lok Sabha seat.

According to Congress sources, Khalap has been advised to join the party and contest the election on the Congress symbol.

Khalap met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi last month and offered to join the Congress.

The Congress party election committee will meet tonight to finalise the Goa candidates and the names would be announced after the party high command's approval, the sources added.
