India, Pak urged to take greatest care

Britain has urged India and Pakistan to avoid further provocation after India shot down a Pakistani maritime aircraft, prompting threats of retaliation from Islamabad.

''We regret the loss of life. We are urging India and Pakistan to take the greatest care to avoid provocation and misunderstanding,'' a foreign office spokesman said yesterday.
