DMK-MDMK differences persistWithin a day of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazagham accepting the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazagham's offer of five Lok Sabha seats and the Natham assembly constituency for which bypoll would be held in Tamil Nadu, major differences arose between the two parties over identifying the seats to be allotted to the MDMK. While the DMK had made it clear that it would allot three seats --Sivakasi, Tindivanam and Palani -- won by it in the last elections, differences persist over identifying the remaining two seats. Talking to newspersons this afternoon, Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi said the party was in no position to allot any two of the four seats sought by the MDMK -- Tiruchendur, Tirunelveli, Thanjavur and Tiruchengode. The DMK has also made it clear that it can allot two of the three seats -- Gobichettypalayam, Karur and Pollachi (scheduled caste) to the MDMK, he added. UNI
