Pak Christians face doomsday scenarioChristian institutions and Christians in Pakistan are in a state of despair and utter poverty, according to a British Broadcasting Corporation report. The downfall began in the 1970s with the nationalisation of Christian institutions and today the largest minority group in Pakistan stands condemned to menial jobs like sweeping, bootlegging or working as labourers for their survival, the report said. Quoting Christians living in Pakistan, the BBC said, the 1972 nationalisation deprived them of free education, books or hostel facilities earlier easily available in Christian schools. And this has left them with no choice but go for whatever small jobs come their way. Today no Christian businessman worth his name is known in Pakistan as financially this minority community is on the very brink of the abyss. UNI
