North remains in the grip of heat

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and north Rajasthan.

Heat wave conditions also prevailed in interior Orissa, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, south Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana and some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Manipur and north Tamil Nadu and above normal in some parts of Saurashtra, Kutch and north interior Karnataka.

Day temperatures were appreciably below normal in Assam and Meghalaya and below normal in some parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Kerala.

They were normal in the rest of the country barring Arunachal Pradesh from where data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers fell at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Kerala.

Very light rain also fell at isolated places in Rayalaseema.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to fall at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, at a few places in Assam and Meghalaya, and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
