35 killed, 40 injured in bus-train collision in Uttar Pradesh
At least 35 persons were killed and 40 seriously injured when a bus carrying a marriage party collided with the Avadh-Assam Express at an unmanned level crossing in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh tonight.
Police said the 5610 Down Avadh-Assam Express had left Lucknow and was heading for Ghonda when it hit the bus at the Jhukia railway crossing at 2020 IST.
Twenty-seven persons died on the spot. The injured were admitted to the Barabanki and Bahraich district hospitals.
Of the 32 seriously injured persons admitted to the Barabanki hospital, five died. Three of the 12 persons admitted to the Bahraich hospital also died.
Senior civil and police officials have rushed to the site to supervise rescue work.
