Temperature soars in Assam, Meghalaya

Heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and of north Rajasthan.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in west Uttar Pradesh and in parts of coastal Orissa, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, south Rajasthan and of central Maharashtra, and in the remaining parts of Assam and Meghalaya.

They were above normal in Telangana, in parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar plateau, Rayalaseema and of Tamil Nadu and in the remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunchal Pradesh and Jammu from where the data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and at isolated places in Tamil Nadu.

Very light rain occurred at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
