Mulayam offers to sit out if it helped government formation

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Samajwadi Party today made it clear that it was not averse to joining an alternative government at the Centre, but if it came in the way of government formation the party would not mind opting out.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, who chaired the top leaders' meeting, was authorised to negotiate with friendly parties for formation of the next government, sources said.

Party MP Reena Chaudhary, during a chat with media-persons, said the SP should be part of the ruling coalition as it was her party that waged a constant and relentless battle against communal forces and was instrumental in the ouster of the Vajpayee regime.

Sources said Yadav and Laloo Prasad Yadav have also held discussions with Sharad Pawar today for the early installation of an alternative government.
