SC dismisses plea to probe Gandhi murder afreshThe Supreme Court today dismissed a writ petition seeking direction to the Central Bureau of Investigation to reopen the Mahatma Gandhi assassination case for reinvestigation after more than 50 years so that the 'real culprit' could be brought to book. The petition by Pradeep Chandrakant Dalvi, noted Marathi playwright and author of the play Me Nathuram Godse Boltey, which was banned by the Maharashtra government at the instance of the Centre, was dismissed by a division bench comprising Justice B N Kirpal and Justice S Rajendra Babu. ''You want the Gandhi murder case to be reinvestigated now,'' Kirpal asked the petitioner when the petition came up for hearing, and dismissed it. UNI
