Crucial AIADMK meet today

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham general secretary J Jayalalitha has conveyed the party's general council meeting today.

The meeting is expected to discuss the political crisis triggered by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Kumaramangalam's statement that the AIADMK need not continue in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance if she was so critical of the Atal Bihari Vajapayee government.

Meanwhile, BJP vice-president Krishan Lal Sharma told the media in Panjim that there were no differences among the allies and the government over the issue.

He said there should be no ambiguity in this regard after Prime Minister Vajpayee categorically stated that ''no view other than that of his should be taken as the government stand on the sacked naval chief Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat issue.''
