Jaipur court frames charges against Pakistani in blast caseA local court in Jaipur has framed charges against a Pakistani citizen and three other accused in the S M S Stadium bomb blast case. The trial court yesterday framed charges against the Pakistani national Abdul Mateen, another accused Abdul Hamid of Firozabad, Rais Beg of Agra and Chandra Prakash of Roopwas in Bharatpur district in connection with the bomb blast which occurred an hour before the Republic Day function at the S M S Stadium on January 26, 1996, injuring a PWD worker. After the initial debate, the court in its chargesheet said the three accused -- Abdul Mateen, Dr Abdul Hameed and Rais Beg -- were prima facie involved in the conspiracy of planting a bomb in the stadium to disrupt the Republic Day function. The conspiracy was hatched in Ferozabad, according to the prosecution. An accused, Pappu Khan, had turned prosecution witness and the court had subsequently granted him pardon. Now the next hearing in the case will be on October 13, when the court will record prosecution witness Pappu Khan's statement. UNI
