Sharief to take up Kashmir with VajpayeePakistan premier Nawaz Sharief has said his talks with Indian Prime Minister A B Vajpayee in New York would focus on outstanding disputes between the countries, particularly Kashmir. Talking to newspersons before his departure for New York to attend the United Nations general assembly, Sharief said he would call upon India to resume the dialogue on the basis of the agenda that was acceptable to both countries at the foreign secretary level talks last year. Sharief said he would follow the same line as there was no change in Pakistan's stance. About his talks with US President Bill Clinton, Sharief said he would discuss regional and global matters, particularly the security situation in South Asia. He would stress the need for a solution to the Kashmir issue. The Afghanistan situation would also be discussed, he added. About his talks with Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, Sharief said he would affirm Pakistan's efforts for a reconciliation between Iran and Afghanistan. The other leaders the Pak prime minister is expected to meet include South African President Nelson Mandela, the British prime minister and the Turkish prime minister. UNI
