Congress plans no-trust move against Delhi govt

Delhi Congress chief whip Deep Chand Bandhu yesterday announced that the Congress would move a no-confidence motion against the Bharatiya Janata Party government during the four-day session of the state assembly beginning on September 24.

Bandhu said the Congress would highlight the government's failure on all fronts and the non-fulfilment of its electoral promises.

He accused the government of deceiving the 12 million people of the metropolis by making false statements and "insulting martyrs such as Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country, by not installing their statues at Ferozshah Kotla".

Former chief minister Madan Lal Khurana, who is now Union parliamentary affairs minister, had declared in 1994 that the statues of the freedom-fighters would be installed at the Kotla, but nothing has been done so far, Bandhu pointed out.
