Orissa government denies former DGP's allegation in Anjana Mishra molestation case

The Orissa government has denied former director general of police A B Tripathy's statement that he was offered plum positions in return for favours in the Anjana Mishra molestation case.

The government maintains that no such appointments were offered to Tripathy. An official media release stated that Tripathy himself requested the chief secretary to appoint him as chairman of the Orissa Public Service Commission.

Tripathy, in an affidavit submitted to the court recently, had stated that he was offered the posts of vice-chairman of the Cuttack Development Authority or vice-chancellor of the Sambalpur University by the chief secretary.

The release also denied that the chief secretary had asked Tripathy to provide VIP treatment to former advocate general of Orissa Indrajit Ray, if he was imprisoned in the case.
