Subject: Keep off Vananchal, BJP warns Laloo

"He pointed out that the people of the Jharkhand region themselves were asking for a separate state since the southern part of Bihar is neglected and underdeveloped."

Why don't we apply a similar logic for the state called India? At least realise that we are digging our own grave by trying to solve the problem. Is it not true that even after 50 years, people of Kashmir do not wish to stay with us?

If we cannot persuade them, what right do we have to force them? What action are we taking to solve the problems?

Subject: JMM withdraws support to Rabri

The headline is misleading, while the story says it will withdraw support after a formal announcement on Thursday. Shibu Soren also has to give the green-signal. Sloppy work.

Subject: Mani Shankar Iyer's article on socialism and Manmohanomics

Only Nehruvian "socialism" resulted in the current state of India. More than half of its people live below the poverty line, without proper food, shelter, etc. What kind of growth and prosperity has this "socialism" brought in all these fifty years, that Mani Shanker is talking about?

Surely, this socialism resulted in all sorts of evils in the society (corruption for example), and the people who benefited most from this are politicians. No wonder these guys want this status quo to continue and are professing the so-called "compatibility" between socialism and Manmohanomics.

It is true that "protection" and "promotion" given to Indian private enterprises by this Indian-style socialism helped them survive all these fifty years. But at what cost? Substandard products and service to people at an exorbitantly higher price. Protection and promotion has made these companies into "paper tigers" that when they face real competition from outside, they cry foul and demand a "level playing field!!" (With few exceptions like Reliance).

Only this "docialism" resulted in tens and thousands of millions being invested (wasted) in all those public sector units with hardly five per cent returns/ profit. Whose money is all this? It's all the tax payers', definitely not from politicians like Mani Shankar.

Let Mani Shankar Iyer write all this in his party newspapers, not in a forum like Rediff.

Subject: False news report

TMC is a separate party. Why do you expect it to join the Congress. If the party decides to keep its identity, how can it close its door on Sonia's "face." Sonia never tried to enter it, or never requested the TMC to join the Congress.

Why this misleading heading. Nobody closed the door on the face of anybody. Either you don't know English or purposely want to spread false news.

I guess Suresh Mehta realises what happened to the GREAT secular leader Shankarsinh Vaghela, who has ended up in the RJP, the much publicised political dustbin.

Subject: Laloo takes strong exception to PM's remark

First of all, who is Laloo to talk against the authority of the prime minister and Central ministers? What is his official/ Constitutional position?

Isn't it childish to say that when CBI raids take place in a criminal's house, it's a conspiracy? Does it mean that whenever a criminal is punished, it is a conspiracy of the judiciary against the criminal? Doesn't this sound like the words of a small child, who thinks him/ herself above the whole world?

Isn't it a right of the Central government to intervene in a state when the state government proves itself incapable of governance? Even the Bihar high court has stated that the law and order and financial situation in Bihar is at an all-time worst, and there is "jungle rule" in the state.

I am sure the president will gladly approve the dismissal of Bihar government.

Subject: Prohibitive cost of the supplies

Somebody must be what Anna Hazare accused the Maharashtra minister to be. There is no way the price of items quoted can be what it has been mentioned as. Can some one ask the minister to publish the name, brand/supplier/ model etc for the item and make the list public? It seems definitely unacceptable that largescale buying results in such high prices. Something feels fishy. Can we get some more information to clarify our doubt about wastage or pilferage?

To bring about a change in India -- has this not been the perpetual question in India? I hope the government releases control and lets the industry and business take a lead in changing the nation.
