Subject: Ashok Mitra's article about Kashmir

Ashok Mitra's article that Kashmir is as good as not in the Republic of India only goes on to prove that Rediff has become a breeding ground for the anti-national, anti-Hindu, leftist fanatics. If we go through the previous articles of Ashok Mitra, it becomes clear that he is a pucca communist.

His article says how atrocious our Indian government is and how justified the terrorist elements are. He is right only when he claims that the people of India need to know what is happening in Kashmir and the north-eastern states. The killing of thousands of Hindus and the condition of lakhs of Hindus in refugee camps because of Islamic terrorism in Kashmir, the condition of 35 thousand Hindus (called Rewangs) who were driven out of Christian majority Mizoram in 1997, the mediation for Nagaland and Mizoram held in an Atlanta church, the role of Leftists in the secessionist activities in Tripura and other north-eastern states have to be brought to light. Then only people will get rid of anti-nationals once and for all.

Of course Ashok Mitra's article does not come as a surprise to me as communists have a long history of being critical of the nation. He is only following in their footpath. But what angers me is that he gets a place to write articles in Rediff.

This is a useless and ridiculous article. I don't want to waste any words on it.

Mitra's article might appear quite convincing in its depiction of virtual realities in India, but to me he appears as another armchair rhetoricist, who only portrays or rather exaggerates realities for a living. If Mitra is so concerned about such things, let him offer some solution to the problems that he states in his articles.

Moreover, so-called internal insurgencies have become a sort of permanent impediment in the path of progress of many countries, and we may be actually paying the price of democracy. Please refrain from publishing articles from such pessimistic commies.

Subject: Gandhi, Godse and the truth - Arun Gandhi

It is nice to know that there is someone who tries to correct 'politically' incorrect issues. After this episode, I did read a couple of books written by Nathuram and his brother, I wonder why up till now, no one has written any answer for the questions they raised. So this means that whatever effort you try to implement it is not going to work.

In this article you tried to blame the 'Congress.' The Congress represented Gandhiji. People did not believe in the Congress, it was a mere platform. It was Gandhiji, his lifestyle, his personality, that people trusted.

I have great respect for Gandhiji, he is one of the greatest persons of this century, who will inspire hundreds in the coming years. I am proud of him. My personal feeling is that he built a beautiful palace and then when it was done, he let others to destroy it. He did not hold control at the end of his life and one of the greatest civilisations of any time went in hands of people like Nehru.

You cannot escape Gandhiji's role in the events from 1947 to 1950. Yes, no one is perfect, and I am in no position to decide who was right and who was wrong.

I was born in a free India, and believe me, the current generation is not going to agree to any statements which do not have substantial proof!! If I read Gandhiji correctly, I will say he would have agreed with Nathuram. He would say: 'My son, what you are saying is right, let us implement what you are asking in different way!!'

Hope I did not hurt your feelings.

Subject: Presidential form of government

I hope our politicians, especially Sonia Gandhi, read the noted Constitutional expert Palkhivala on the wretched, broken-down parliamentary system we have in India today. We have to handcuff MPs who have made a total mockery of Parliament. Sonia Gandhi, Chandra Shekhar, Laloo Yadav are against changing the parliamentary system as they will never win a direct presidential election, and they have the power to strangle India for their own selfish ends.

Subject: Bicycles

The government should subsidise our cycle purchases. It will cause less pollution and improve the health of fellow Indians.

Incidently, the people in Netherlands use cycles the way we use our televisions. I had personally come across one gentleman, who used to visit my neighbour every weekend on a cycle and hardly used his Mercedes Benz, and VW Golf. Another gentleman used the company cycle to meet his suppliers, though he could use company car for such visits.

Netherlands is cycle-friendly country. Maybe our Indian politicians and policy makers should stay there for a week, and bring possible change in our cities to accommodate and encourage the use of cycles.

The tactics used by the government to protect their mediocre Indian Airlines from competition, stinks of communism and socialism which have lead to the rot of our country in the past 50 years.

Indian companies believe in importing technology as it averts the risks in developing local alternates. Above all, it is an excellent opportunity to overinvoice major import of equipment and transfer money abroad. The officials and politicians get a cut in this and they enjoy it.

This is not just a piece of my imagination. An American advisor in the US Embassy has concluded on these lines. His candid comments appeared in Spectrum magazine a couple of years back. It is now time to make a difference. Let us get an unbiased evaluation of the technology developed at IIT Madras. If proven, let us go ahead full steam.

Subject: The nerd list

What a shame! That too from the land of purity and truth, or at least that's what we claim. I think this should be extended nationwide and companies/psuedo-professionals who commit such fraud should be severely punished, even blacklisted. Such acts cause irreparable damage in the IT industry where a lot depends on trust and human factor.

Government/ IT industry/ NASSCOM, are you listening? I hope this list is transparent, independent of the government and available to the public. Otherwise, given the corruption level and the seemingly zero self-respect of some of my fellow desis, it is just new feed for another slap on the face some months/years from now. By the way, how is this 'list' managed/ how does it work? How is information collected/verified?

I hope we can get a full report in the near future.

Subject: The guiding stars

The feature was good and quite absorbing. But you need to keep the statistics and figures right. For example, you've said Madhuri worked in Karma under Subhash Ghai which is wrong. She worked in Ram Lakhan under him. Madhuri is a great actress of our generation and we can't give wrong information about her. Otherwise the article made interesting reading

Sajid

Sajid: Both Karma and Ram Lakhan are directed by Subhash Ghai.

Nice to see Ganesh tripping it out to the falls. He is quite a guide. I should know because he showed us around his village domain when we were there last year.

Ganesh has a nice easy style for a traveller like me. Let's have more of him!
