Date sent: Mon, 14 Sep 1998 20:05:20 EDT I think this move by the Congress is a desperate attempt by them to embarrass the government at the cost of nation. Now that the BJP government is quite stable in the domestic area and the Congress is out of tricks to hurt the BJP, they are trying to go foreign and ask old Congress allies to create trouble in the international area. But this is illegal as it will hurt national interest. I think their passports should be confiscated before they can hurt nation.
Date sent: Mon, 14 Sep 1998 12:14:29 -0500 I feel extremely disappointed as to what a nation we have become. The politicians don't think a second before playing their dirty games. Yes, we did have excellent relations with South Africa. And that should have been remembered by Nelson Mandela before his irresponsible utterances. If the Indian government had kept quiet and let it pass then the same Congress party would have gone hammer and tong at the government for not having a backbone. The Congress ruined the country for 40 years and they continue to do so. I won't be surprised to see a Congress or a US hand in Nelson Mandela's statements. In fact the latter is more possible because Mandela also had said earlier that 'A military solution is the best for the various problems in the African continent.' As of our great relations... we had a long standing relation with the Middle East and in that process ignored Israel all along. I don't understand how much we gained out of that but the loss of keeping Israel away was a mistake. This much for the so called 'Long history of relations.' The Congress would do anything to be in power, and I really hope people see through this and never give them a chance again. Shyam Venkitesh
Date sent: Fri, 15 May 1998 18:49:19 -0400 I do feel proud of India's achievement in showing its nuclear capability. It shows that it will not succumb to any foreign pressure as it had done the last time about the cryogenic stuff. But the admiral has brought out an interesting point -- whether the Indian government can withstand the pressure both externally and internally. The market has been down for a long time in trying to recover from previous scandals. The present trend shows that the value is diminishing gradually. At this point I feel that the nation -- I mean the politicians, bureaucrats and people alike should support each other and strive to push the country ahead instead of making money or hoarding it. The national spirit should be on the top of everything and I believe firmly that if all the people make a concerted effort. Hum Honge Kamyab. Jai Hind
Date sent: Sat, 23 May 1998 17:27:36 -0400 Capital Buzz is great!!! However, this was the first time I was able to read it because you seldom put it on your home page. Please do so more regularly, by putting funny, enjoyable things on your front page (like Capital Buzz), you bring a smile to the faces of your NRI readers.
Date sent: Sat, 9 May 1998 08:01:27 -0700 The BJP should stand for "Bharatiya Jayalalitha Party." Why does not the President call on the CBI to investigate her and do away with her? If she or any other person is corrupt they should be brought to justice. There should be rules enacted so that the functioning of the government at the Centre should not be subject to the blackmail of its supporters. In India we accept corruption the same way as people squatting on the roadside, we have become numb to it. People like Murasoli Maran help minorities in all the wrong way, instead of helping them with housing, jobs, schooling and basic hygiene, they are busy creating power bases for thugs. Since Muslims love their Shariya law, we should give a dose of their Koranic punishments, call a consultant from Saudi Arabia to enact a code of punishment.
Date sent: Tue, 5 May 1998 12:29:23 -0700 It is incredible that the moral police are out in the open now, it is true that someone has to shoulder the responsibility for upholding the morals in society. Unfortunately, for this great country of ours, the newer generation is confused and lost as to what constitutes our culture. Is it going to Western concerts and preventing Indians from acting like them that constitutes our culture? NO in a place where, mythology places the standards of human behavior, where grandmothers tell little children of valorous heroes, and every festival acts as an cohesive force for bonding a family to the society, and the elders are respected no matter who. The culture police have failed miserably in identifying their goals, you cannot stop people from accepting something they perceive as a better alternative, instead educate yourselves and the society to what constitutes our culture, and inculcate pride in what we have and believe in, give your society a correct picture of culture. I have found through the works of great men that only indifference and obstinate behaviour on the part of the authorities generate the feeling of rebellion throughout history. Now is the time to evaluate the humane and emotional needs for the younger generation, and do something to understand them rather than policing them, give them alternatives, not rules. I am sorry but if you cannot see affection displayed you need serious help. Krishna would not be pleased by this attitude. Ashvin Naik

Date sent: Tue, 9 Dec 1997 20:53:45 +0530 The Indian market has lot of potential. ICICI and other organisations will promote companies which are already in the market, are established and have huge funds to go international. Many IT professional migrate to USA only for two things -- job satisfaction and money. IT people after some years of experience will get many product development ideas, which they want to bring out, but because Indian software companies are not engaged in product oriented development cannot make use of their talents. Government and organisations like ICICI should cater to the needs of such professionals where they don't need more than 10 to 20 lakhs to start their own company, this will make our country really BIG! Date sent: Wed, 10 Dec 1997 15:06:43 +-4-30 As far as I see from Hong Kong, Mr Naidu is the best CM in the entire country. Laloos, Mulayams, Patels and the likes should learn from him in the field of working with a vision. He is the only CM who has a vision for AP. No CM in the past has thought about the state for his normal tenure of five years, but Mr Naidu wants to put the state on top by year 2020. Congratulations Mr Naidu and keep up the good work. PSR

Date: Tue, 01 Sep 1998 07:29:30 +0530 I do not agree with your report about Dil Se. It is one of Mani Ratnam's best works. Since it's a film why should they reveal where the film is happening and who is the terrorist etc. I thinks it's a good story though there may be some similarities with his old movies. I strongly feel this will be another feather in his cap. N P Prakash
