Snow in SpitiThe higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh Monday experienced the first snowfall of the season while the lower and mid hills had intermittent rain. Reports said the peaks of Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul Spiti district, had snowfall since Sunday, leading to cold wave conditions there. The 13,050-foot Rohtang pass, the access to Lahaul Spiti district, also had snowfall. Mild snowfall occurred on Sarch pass near Shtrundi in Chamba district and the high peaks at Chachul and Bhatmuhan, in the Tissa sector of the district. The Southwest monsoon, meanwhile, has been vigorous in Vidarbha and active in West Madhya Pradesh and coastal Karnataka. Rain or thundershowers occurred at most places in Haaryan and Konkan and Goa, at many places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, East Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar plateau, hills of West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka, and at isolated places in East Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch and Tamil Nadu. Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, South Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha, at a few places in West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Bihar, North Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep, and at isolated places over the rest of the country outside West Rajasthan where the weather will be mainly dry.
