Indian tricolour hoisted in PakistanAn Indian flag was hoisted on a building in Hyderabad, in Pakistan's Sindh province, on Sunday, when the country was observing its annual defence day. An English newspaper said the flag had 'Jiye Sindh' and 'Bharat' scribbled on it. The building where the incident took place is under construction and owned by a former deputy inspector general of police. The newspaper said the police immediately arrived on the spot to remove the flag. They have detained security personnel of the building for interrogation. The incident occurred amidst mounting resentment among Sindhis about the dominance of Punjab in the affairs of Pakistan. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's unilateral decision to go ahead with the construction of the controversial Kalanagha dam has further fuelled this resentment. Last month, Pakistan's national flag was desecrated in Karachi. Police suspect workers of the Mutteheda Quami Movement, which has broken up its alliance with the ruling Muslim League, for it. UNI
