Sonia launches Congress campaign in Madhya Pradesh

Congress president Sonia Gandhi today launched her party's campaign for the coming assembly election in Madhya Pradesh with a call to partymen to sink their differences.

Sonia, who arrived in Bhopal this morning from Pachmarhi after attending the three-day party conclave, was addressing a state-level conference of party workers at the Motilal Nehru stadium.

She described the forthcoming assembly election as a challenge which had to be met head on.

She assured the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, weaker sections, minorities, women and youth of adequate representation in distribution of tickets.

Without naming the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress president said the main Opposition party in Madhya Pradesh twice got the opportunity to rule was but was wiped out in the next elections.

This indicates that the Congress was strong enough to take on such parties, she added.
