Pak says differences with India have been narrowed down

Pakistan today said it has succeeded in narrowing differences with India on the resumption of the official-level talks which had been stalled due to the contentious Jammu and Kashmir issue.

Pakistan Foreign Secretary Shamshad Ahmed said the series of talks with his Indian counterpart K Raghunath has ''proved fruitful in narrowing down the gap in approaches of the two countries in resuming the talks''.

Meanwhile, officials in Durban have confirmed that the prime ministers of India and Pakistan will meet on September 23 at New York.

''As far as Pakistan is concerned we are committed for bilateral dialogue on the whole range of issues,'' Shamshad Ahmed said.

He confirmed he had more than two meetings with Raghunath in the last four days on the sidelines of the 12th NAM summit to evolve a mechanism for re-initiation of the dialogue.
