MP Vidhan Sabha clears reorganisation billThe Vidhan Sabha today ratified by voice vote the Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 1998, which provided for carving out a separate Chhattisgarh state. During the two-day special session convened in Bhopal to consider the reorganisation bill, the members discussed the provisions clause by clause, and made several suggestions. Some even demanded the creation of Mahakaushal, Vindhya Pradesh and Bundelkhand states. Chief Minister Digvijay Singh urged the Centre to convene a special session of Parliament to pass the bill for creation of a separate Chhattisgarh state so that the new state could come into existence before the assembly election in Madhya Pradesh, scheduled to be held in November.
