Heavy rains forecast in West Bengal, Orissa

Heavy rains are likely to occur at isolated places in West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa and east Madhya Pradesh in the next 48 hours.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa and east Madhya Pradesh, at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, and at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Isolated light rain is also likely in Maharashtra and Goa. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.

Night temperatures were below normal in Rayalaseema and some parts of Gujarat region, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. They were appreciably above normal in Gangetic West Bengal, east Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and some parts of east Rajasthan, and were above normal in Bihar, Orissa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, west Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. They were normal in the rest of the country.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and south coastal Andhra Pradesh. They were above normal in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and parts of Gangetic West Bengal, east Uttar Pradesh, and Kashmir. They were markedly below normal in Assam and Meghalaya and appreciably below normal in the Bihar plains, west Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Day temperatures were below normal in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Haryana, east Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Kutch central Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka and some parts of Madhya Pradesh. They were normal in the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Telangana from where data was sparse.
