Governor submits fresh report on law and order in Bihar

E-Mail this report to a friend

Bihar Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari today apprised Union Home Minister Lal Kishinchand Advani of the law-and-order situation in the state.

Bhandari, who arrived in the capital yesterday, called on the home minister this morning and was closeted with him for about 45 minutes.

He is understood to have submitted a detailed report to Advani on the situation in the state.

The meeting assumes significance in the light of Bhandari's earlier recommendation to dismiss the Rabri Devi government in Bihar.

When President K R Narayanan returned the Union Cabinet's recommendation to dismiss the state government and keep the assembly in suspended animation, the Centre decided not to press the issue. But several Cabinet ministers and politicians belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition have continued to demand the imposition of President's rule in Bihar.
