Hardcore Bodo militant shot dead in encounter

At least four persons, including a hardcore Bodo militant, were killed and five others were abducted in different parts of Assam during the past 24 hours, official reports said.

Army soldiers shot dead a hardcore member of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland in an encounter at Gorakuchi village of Nalbari district, the reports said.

Two bodies with multiple injuries were recovered from Lakuwa in Sibsagar district. One of the victims was found near the home of United Liberation Front of Asom chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa.

Two youths, suspected to be ULFA activists, were kidnapped from Khonamukh.

In another incident, suspected ULFA militants shot dead a businessman in north Lakhimpur, police confirmed.

Three persons, including a woman and her driver, were kidnapped by suspected ULFA militants in Dhubri district.
