Phoolan plea against Allahabad high court order dismissed

The Supreme Court today dismissed as withdrawn a petition by former bandit queen Phoolan Devi seeking quashing of all criminal cases of murder and dacoity pending against her in a Kanpur district court.

The special leave petition was directed against an Allahabad high court order that dismissed her petition. That petition had challenged the trial court's orders refusing permission to the Uttar Pradesh government to withdraw the cases against her.

The bench comprised Justice M K Mukherjee and Justice S S M Quadri.
