Congress decides against adjournment move

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Congress today decided not to move an adjournment motion on the price rise of essential commodities but would seek a special discussion on the issue in the Lok Sabha.

This decision was taken by the party's parliamentary affairs committee at a meeting presided by its chairperson, Sonia Gandhi.

The meeting took place just an hour before the winter session of Parliament commenced.

Earlier, there was speculation that the party was planning to move an adjournment motion, which meant voting in the house. But the proposal has been given up for the time being for tactical reasons, a senior Congress leader said.
