Sonia, Jyoti Basu hold a quiet meeting

Congress president Sonia Gandhi today held a one-on-one meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu at Banga Bhavan in New Delhi last evening.

According to Banga Bhavan sources, the two politicians met for around 20 minutes.

Though what transpired was not disclosed, the meeting assumes significance because of the assembly elections due in four states on November 25.

The Marxist leader was in New Delhi to deliver the Jawaharlal Nehru memorial lecture.
