South sees more of monsoon

Heavy rains are likely at isolated places in Tamil Nadu during the next 48 hours.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar plains and Kerala, and at a few places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, and at isolated places in east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa and Vidarbha.

Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, central Maharashtra, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Night temperatures were below normal in parts of Kutch and Tamil Nadu. They were markedly above normal in north central Maharashtra and Marathwada, and were appreciably above normal in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Konkan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, north interior Karnataka and in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Haryana and Vidarbha.

They were above normal in parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal Sikkim, Rayalaseema and north interiuor Karnataka, and were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse.
