Patel defeats no-confidence moveThe no-confidence motion sponsored by the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party against the Janata Dal government led by Chief Minister Jayadevappa Halappa Patel was defeated in the state assembly today by 133 votes to 83. While four members were absent, the three-member group of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti walked out when the motion was taken up for voting. Patel later told the media that he was not surprised by the verdict. UNI |
