Naxals kill 7 of Ranbir Sena

E-Mail this report to a friend

In the continuing blood feud in Bihar, the Naxalites of the People's War gunned down seven activists of the Ranbir Sena, a private army of landlords, at Ahirya village in Jehanabad district late Sunday night.

Two others were injured in the attack.

A PW support squad in the meantime attacked the local police outpost to prevent help to the victims, police said. There was no casualty there.

The incident is believed to be in retaliation to the slaying of three Party Unity Naxalites in July.

The PW and PU, both banned outfits, had merged recently.

The victims included Arjun Sharma, wanted by the police in connection with the July slayings. Arjun's brother, father and four supporters were also killed.

Tension gripped the area as irate villagers prevented the police to move the bodies for autopsy. Finally, a team of doctors was sent to the village.

State Director-General of Police K A Jacob and other senior officials arrived at the village to supervise the investigations.

Jehanabad district has now become a battleground in the feud between the Naxalite outfits and the private armies of landlords.

The Ranbir Sena had last year massacred more than 60 residents of Laxmanpur Bathe village in the district.
