Govt shifts to Jammu for winter

E-Mail this report to a friend

Amidst tight security, government offices reopened Monday in Jammu after the 'Darbar move' from Srinagar.

The state government functions in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir's winter capital, for six months from November to April.

From May to October, it exists in Srinagar.

An official spokesman said patrolling in areas adjacent to the civil secretariat and other government offices has been intensified to thwart any untoward incident.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and Lok Shakti workers carried out separate - and peaceful -- processions against the National Conference government's failures in its two-year regime.
