Realignment after polls, says BardhanCommunist Party of India General Secretary A B Bardhan has said there will be a realignment of political forces in the country, if the Bharatiya Janata Party fares badly in the coming assembly elections in Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Bardhan said in New Delhi that in the event of a poor performance in elections to the state assemblies, some of the BJP allies would ditch it to join the alternative being forged by the left parties to form a government at the Centre, headed by the Congress. In Delhi, the BJP had reconciled itself to failure. In Rajasthan it had no chance of returning to power and in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP's position was equally bad, he added. The assembly polls in the three states and Mizoram must be considered a referendum on the performance of the BJP-led coalition at the Centre. The people were totally disappointed with the BJP which had failed to hold the priceline. It was giving concessions every week to multi-national companies and other big business houses, and had cooled down the country's relations with China and other friendly countries. The common people had been adversely affected by the steep prices for which the BJP alone was responsible, Bardhan said. UNI
