Two remote-controlled combat devices, capable of hitting a target at two kilometres, have been found by the Jammu and Kashmir police in the Kalakote forests of Rajouri, about 140 kilometres from Jammu.

State Director-General of Police Gurbachan Singh said the 'pilot-less aircraft', weighing just 15 kilogrammes, have a dimension of four by two feet.

In 10 years of militancy, this is the first time the police are finding such devices.

Jagat said the devices indicated that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence was giving 'a serious dimension to the proxy war' in Jammu and Kashmir.

The state administrative machinery had reports of plans to smuggle sophisticated weaponry into the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The devices confirm the reports, he said.

The devices, made of thermocole and covered with plastic, were equipped with a powerful engine that enabled them to fly at 500-600 feet at 200 kmphs. It could stay in air for two hours carrying 1.5 kilograms of explosives.

The DGP said the remote controls of the devices were also found in the area.
