Case against Joshi's kin to be heard on November 26The Bombay high court has scheduled the hearing of the case against Girish Vyas, Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi's son-in-law, for November 26. The case, regarding Vyas's controversial construction work in Pune, was originally scheduled on November 4. However, one of the judges, V S Jahagirdar, had resigned. Justice Jahagirdar's version is that he quit due to 'personal problems'. Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, it may be recalled, had hinted that Joshi would have to go if Vyas is proved guilty. Journalist Vijay Kumbhar and Congress municipal corporator Nitin Jagtap had alleged that Vyas constructed housing complexes in Pune's Erandwona region on land reserved for schools. Their complaint claimed that he put pressure on the city development department to get the plot. The department is under the chief minister, and Minister of State Ravindra Mane had called a meeting of the municipal authorities concerned to pressurise them to oblige Vyas, the petition claimed. Chief Justice M B Shah clarified that the case will have to be heard by a new bench. The earlier bench, during its last hearing on September 25, had expressed that Vyas violated many laws.
